Once a month, HOPE for St. Mary's - Located inside the Church of the Ascension at 21641 Great Mills Rd, Lexington Park, MD 20653, has a Food Drop. A Food Drop (or Pantry on the Go as it is called by the Maryland Food Bank) is a mobile pantry program providing supplementary food assistance in the rural, urban, and suburban areas most affected by food insecurity. After selecting a site and drop-off date, the Maryland Food Bank delivers thousands of pounds of food by truck and immediately unloads and distributes it directly to food-insecure community members. Each event provides enough produce and/or non-perishable foods to feed about 200 families on average and sometimes up to 600 families in a single day.

HOPE needs assistance from 8 am until 12:30 pm with food sorting, registration, crowd control, and clean up at their next event on April 13. If you are interested, you can sign up here
