Open Water: An Undergraduate Journal in the Social Sciences

Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society, is currently seeking high caliber student papers for publication in the 2023-2024 edition of Open Water, the journal of the Political Science & Public Policy department at St. Mary's College of Maryland. This journal aims to provide a non-partisan forum for scholarly works that advance the open discussion of various issues including politics, economics, history, anthropology, and sociology.

Published works will demonstrate contemporary or future relevance to the above mentioned perspectives. Both research-based analyses and creative projects will be considered for publication. Examples of appropriate submissions include the following: excerpts/chapters from St. Mary’s Projects, papers written for a course, editorials, relevant fiction and/or creative non-fiction works.

We are also seeking photography submissions related to St. Mary's College.

Guidelines:

1. Papers must be related to the social sciences.

2. Papers must have been previously or currently submitted to a professor as part of coursework. Seminar papers and SMP chapters make for excellent submissions!

3. Any submitted papers should be approximately 20 pages in length (15-25 pages), in double spaced, 12pt Times New Roman font.

4. Due to space constraints, not all submitted papers can be published.

If you would like your paper considered for publication, please submit it to dboros@smcm.edu by Sunday, April 7th, 2023.
